You've got to get the correct fuel pump as using the early one in a late model means the arm doesn't engage with the cam eccentric & it won't pump fuel. Putting a late pump in an early engine works until the arm breaks & the fuel stops pumping. So you do need to be careful about what pump you get. The arms are peened in, so you can't easily change them, or I'd have a large L series fuel pump attached to both my Sunny's. I seem to remember some metal balls in behind the peening that added to the fun.
For the blank off plate, any Series 2 Bluebird will have a plate you can use right at the front of the engine on the alternator side, as they have a facet electric pump at the back of the car( why don't you see if it's still there, it's inside that metal shield between the fuel tank & the rear axle).

Thanks so much b310gx..
just wondering where in syd would i find a late model pump?
Goss make a pump but for some reason it spans all the year ranges so im thinking that can't be correct!!

anywhere you can think of?

I contacted auto 1 and they said the only pump they have is a fuelmieser that suits 1971-1980?? so how would that suit the early and late model engines?? I'm most confused!

Cheers,
Tom

Just about anywhere: supercheap, repco, Nissan dealer, ebay.

Like this one from ebay. Although you can't tell from the photo if it is for early A12 or late A12.

hahah that's the one I bought...
I don't know if it's early or late.. they say 1970-1973
but the end of it doesn't look like an early one..

i asked at auto one and they said the only part numbers they had were for a fuel pump spanning 1970-1980..

which could be either any

Where it looks the same or not doesn't matter, see if the arm is the same and the dimensions are correct.

Don't forget that there is a phenolic spacer too.

Have you actually tested the output of the pump?

You're going to be really annoyed with yourself if you buy a new pump only to find that a partially blocked filter was the cause of your problems all along.

Replace the filter first [cheap & easy] then see if the problem remains.

But is the filer inside the pump or in the carby? I have an inline filter that i did replace.

Get a hold of an engine or repair manual and go from there or pick up a spanner and have a look, you sound fairly cluey get some practical into the mix and you will find the solution to the problem will come quicker.
