Thanks so much b310gx..
just wondering where in syd would i find a late model pump?
Goss make a pump but for some reason it spans all the year ranges so im thinking that can't be correct!!

anywhere you can think of?


I contacted auto 1 and they said the only pump they have is a fuelmieser that suits 1971-1980?? so how would that suit the early and late model engines?? I'm most confused!

You've got to get the correct fuel pump as using the early one in a late model means the arm doesn't engage with the cam eccentric & it won't pump fuel. Putting a late pump in an early engine works until the arm breaks & the fuel stops pumping. So you do need to be careful about what pump you get. The arms are peened in, so you can't easily change them, or I'd have a large L series fuel pump attached to both my Sunny's. I seem to remember some metal balls in behind the peening that added to the fun.
For the blank off plate, any Series 2 Bluebird will have a plate you can use right at the front of the engine on the alternator side, as they have a facet electric pump at the back of the car( why don't you see if it's still there, it's inside that metal shield between the fuel tank & the rear axle).

you can hunt one down from a wreckers as they usually down wear out easily.
Have you tried pulling it apart? you might be able to change arms.

The fuel pump should work fine the only differance would be the crank arm and or the bolt plate may be smaller! Hope this helps if not u can look at the wiki

It's playing up.. im not getting enough fuel to the carby when going uphill! haha it's quite funny the first few times but now im over it!

I bought the replacement pump from ebay but is the early model one so im just wondering do i sell it and buy a later model one or just go electric..

whats wrong with your pump? isnt it all there already? if so just connect your fuel line
and add a resistor (little white chewing gum sized ceramic box) and thats it.

Nah i dont think so.

The mechanical fuel pumps are interchangable im pretty sure.
or you could blank off the hole and use a cheap low presssure electic pump.
