Hahaha Neil, your spare tyre is meant to be in the boot...not behind the wheel

Im going to disagree as Neil said
Quote:
Weight distribution with me in the car was equal left/right due to
placement of things... and actually rear heavy by 20 or so kg

Spare tyre at the front is better in this case :)

Looking at Neils old coupe without the body Im thinking the body was
probably 150kg as it looks pretty light and efficient use of steel.

That Ebay sr16ve 1000, any info on its history or success? (if any?)

At 32yo I generally think of myself as a bit of an old fart on the internet... but holy crap you were racing two years before I was born!

They have gone to a front coilover setup, but I wonder how successful the sr16ve swap would be with the front leaf in the way? Might be a shorter engine than a ca18.

D,mid mounted L16 bored and stroked to around 1780cc for memory, but the key bit was an FIA head not redily available back then, the casting of which did'nt even resemble an L series head!A bit like a GX head for an A series, this was fed by 2 50mm side draft webers, hooked to a 2000 sports car gearbox with close ratios and 1to1 5th gear.I laugh about it now but it was all fed to a B10 LSD!!We only ever broke 2 axles and 1 diff....you had to creep it off the line to say the least.Engine removal was out the bottom with the car on "the crane"up in the air and the engine/transmission on a creeper.

I was sure the SR16/18/20 are taller than ca18 hence people putting in a 1000
easily and also the length is definitely longer for the SR.
Weight of the newer QR series is better than an SR series
Quote:
Compared with the SR20, the QR20 at 110kg weighs approximately 10kg less,
while the QR25 weighs about 20kg less than the superseded KA24. The QR20 is
also 30mm shorter than the SR20.

Bert, dont you miss that thing!! how good was the L16 engine in performance?
