im loving this build.

i think a budget track car is one of the best ways (if not the best way) to enjoy a datsun

All you need now is to find some side draught carbs & a manifold & it should be lots of fun. Can I be rude & suggest you leave those ports as they are, with the stock diff ratio & such. If you went too big you'd lose low down torque & make the engine peaky & a pain to drive. Nothing better than having an engine thats not 'gear sensitive', so when you put the foot down it goes, it doesn't have to wait til a certain point. I admit you might lose top end HP, but not that much. It's all about gas velocity & getting the air moving as soon as possible. The same amount of air travels faster in a small tunnel than in a big tunnel.

Im loving your project too.. Keep posting the changes you make and the coresponding lap times each time you get back from the track.

Maybe post what your car setup is? Things like camber, caster, toe, spring rates, shocks etc. And any changes you might try at the track.

Enjoy!!

I have buffed the casting marks off in the ports on the head
probley just leave it at that. webers fairly costly now(sold a good set a few years back and kicking myself now)maybe look at bike carbs?
valve springs measure 29.5mm od 22mm id 50mm high (free length) for outer and 22mm od 16.8 id 44mm high for inner spring.

If you could pick up a set of big bike carbies, then it's just a case of making the manifold. I agree much cheaper than webers.Aidan (Dat141) had such a set up originally on his sedan, & I'm sure he or any others would only be too glad to help. Anyway, you've got that DGV on it, so it's something that can be done when money becomes available. Get out there & have some fun with what you've got, rather than sitting around doing nothing while you wait for a win in Lotto.
