I hate to be a cynic - but a theft like that is almost 100% definitely going to be either a neighbour or a friend/acquaintance. Nobody else would likely get in a car and steal a dashboard in that manner unless they knew the owner, and when and how they could steal it without them knowing, (while they were asleep or out at the movies, or whatever)

I hope you find the mongrel that did it and the dash is returned, and they get their just desserts too.

So no not really maybe like it hasn't had much attention in the last couple years but not abandond.... So to speak

Took mine out the other day

-two 10mm bolts, one at each end
-two 12mm bolts, one each side of steering column
-three screws, these are the tricky bit cause they are at the top near the windscreen, no ordinary screw driver can fit in there
-speedo cable/clutch cable
-then start pulling and undoing wires as it comes out (fuse box, one plug to back of dash, cigarette lighter, stereo, wiper/washer plug, headlight plug, ignition barrel, two wires to tacho)

sounds like a five minute job... but ask any missus of a car enthuisiest how long a five minute job really takes.

oh and no... i didnt take mine out in preperation for the new one i got at a "bargain price"....lol... im doing hydraulic clutch under dash

I totally agree, this really sucks and I think it was more like 5-10 mins to get this dash out apparently it was only like 6 screws or so to get it out and very easy as well as that... And yeh cheers clyons I never really was good at school but I sure did have plenty of time looking out those windows at all dem gum trees :P

thats one hell of a weird theft... cant get my head around it....

not worth money and extremely risky sitting in a car for half an hour to get it out

like you say.. anyone into datsuns that would appreciate it should also appreciate what you've done to make it and damn well leave it there

i'd be in pure disbelief to find my car with dash removed
