The one I saw (Datsun 1000) was a Canada model, it had a sliding bonnet stay -- not a simple prop rod like the JDM models. It looked like an MGB prop rod but, so maybe it wasn't a Datsun part. It was slick


This is how they do it on 1600 (Datsun model 510) -- Need a strut on each hinge since the hood flexes. The strut goes from the body down behind the strut tower to the hood hinge

Honda struts -- struts from Honda Civic 92-95 trunk lid or hatchback

OR

DQ shows you the simple steps to install gas hood struts.

Has anyone ever fitted a Datsun 1000 bonnet stay system to a 1200? I love how the 1000 does it. Hmmm there is one thing a 1000 does better...

hey guys just wondering if anyone has replaced the bonnet stay with 2 bonnet struts? seen a set on ebay for a 1600 and kinda got me wondering. wouldnt be too hard just want to know if anyone has done it before so i know what to use and how to do it.
