hi i have been trying to find out the correct way to mount a four point harness and my new seats.
it would be nice if any one could point me in the right direction.
i am currently looking at doing a few social club days and maybe a few drag days
i have searched through the cams manual but i cant work out the best way to mount the harness in the ute.
also do i need a cage to do such events?
can the mods be mod-plated
any help would be grate..
photo of seats will be up soon

thats a tuff one, dont go down behind the seats for shoulder straps as if you are in an accident it will compress your spine.... other than that i cant help, would be impossible to put a harness bar behind seats so unless your going through the window in to the tray i cant see how it can be done

i do club sprints in my ute... no cage and no harness

i cant see how i can fit a cage and/or harnesses in the ute and still be able to fit in there myself.
i basically cant afford to move the seat from hard against the rear cabin wall.

a good fixed race seat will make a world of difference. theyre a prick to get in and out of but
definately worth it if your heading out on the track!

whats specs on the ute?

yeh there is no real safe way to mount a harness in a ute without a cage and taxi bar.. ange has already stated that you may not need one for the club sprints, and depending on how fast you ute is you prob dont need one for the strip.

You can get a harness in there,it just depends how tall/short you are.
Assuming you can bring the seat forward 100mm or so,the shoulder straps can be mounted to a steel plate which i would suggest be 300mm wide 50mm deep and 3mm thick you will need 2 one for inside and one for outside.Bolt this to the car under the window centred under the belt holes in the seat,i reckon the angle of the proposed mounting point should be around 25-30 degrees to your spine when seated which is OK.3 8mm bolts should be ok.Now drill two more holes right thru both plates and fit 2 eye screws/bolts for snap on clip fitment of your harness.Note; You will only be able to use the clip in style of belt and not the bolt in type due to the straight shoulder strap mounting point.
Thats about it,if you presented that fitment to me at a CAMS event and it was done well i would pass it to compete.
I have no idea if it would pass a transport dept blue plate
