Can anyone offer some tips on how to remove the lower ball joints on a 1000?
Cheers Matty

Is it stuck in the LCA or the stub axle assembly? A good sharp whack to the collar or chunk of steel [on the lower lug of the stub axle] that houses/surrounds the ball-joint shaft will free it up.

Can get some pics up tomorrow?

There is probably a less agricultural method of removing though but that's how I've always done it.

EDIT: Wait are you asking how to remove it if it's stuck or how to actually dismantle and replace it?? SOrry think I jumped the gun.

Undo the bolts first
Should virtually fall out

Got a ball joint puller? Worth the money. If its the bolts that hold it on the lower control arm that are the problem, it might make it easier to pop the top joint like in that picture and drop the arm down. When I did it the spring rest rubber was in the way, doing this means you can take the pressure off the rubber and remove it to get at the ball joint.

If using a joint puller wind some pressure on and whack the stub axle with a hammer as you go.

Thanks guys

All bolts and nuts have been removed. The only thing holding it in is the threaded shaft for the castellated nut.

The upper ball joint came out quite easily but, even after using a knockometer, the lower one refuses to budge.

I will try your suggestions tonight when I get home from work.

Thanks again.
Matty
