#1 Rear Shock Opinions?
old_school Posted on: 2011/4/10 0:43
Need to replace the shocks in the rear of my coupe

Have found 2 options available locally

Pedders - $90.00 each
Gabriael 82020 - $85.00 each

What you guys think, as I have never used either of these brands.

Cheers

For street or racing?

For street, I would not get the gabriels, they are too stiff. Instead get KYB (non-gas) for B110 new old stock. It is the smoothest ride. Or Datsun factory shocks from the Nissan dealer.

Cheers dd, yes it for street.

Both Nissan and kyb told me 1200 coupe shocks are no longer available.

These are the only two I have found in stock thus far

I managed to get some Munroe GT gas shocks from Odin Auto Parts $120 for the pair! They double checked the price aswell :), quite happy with them (might be a different story on the track though)
Give them a call you never know : (08)9345 3224

i got gabriels in my ute.they are for a liteace but,i got them for around 35 bucks each from supercheaps, and are mint. so 90 each sounds expensive, but coupe shocks are short and not easy to find replacements,

Don't you guys with Monroe have the suspension slightly bounce on bumpy roads? What is so good about them? I recently took my new Monroe's off and put the original Nissan/KYB ones back on, ride is much smoother and better handling now. Less skittish on corners. Monroes are B210 shocks, for a much heavier car (20% heavier). B210 coupe shocks physically interchange with B110 coupe, but the valving specifications differ.

What about the KYB GR2 shocks for Datsun 1200 Coupe?
http://www.amazon.com/KYB-343143-GR-2-Shock/dp/B000C42R2I

Nissan USA lists Coupe shocks in the 2011 catalog:
56210-H1825 Shock Absorber
Most likely they would need to be ordered from Japan (not in stock in USA)

You can buy the Coupe new old stock here: http://classicgarage.com/nid12brepa.html

Gabriel Classic 82020 $14/each at Rockauto.com Gabriel

I use shocks in my coupe sourced from a Holden Gemini coupe. They are short and are well suited to lowered KB110's. Konis are available.

Spax do custom shocks that are hard to go past for the coin.
Last time I looked a single KSX to suit a lowered 1200 coupe were 80pound each.
and about 80 pound delivery direct from the factory.
If you can be bothered to spend a few extra $$$.
Then again, maybe my idea of cheap is not anyone elses.
