Anyone know what the ratio for the ca18 twin camshaft
sprockets should be compared to the crankshaft in terms
of ratio? 2:1
I counted 48 teeth on the cam sprockets so the crank should
be 24 teeth?
I looking at the sprockets on this pic and feel the camshafts
are spinning at about 3 times slower than the crank instead of
twice which I thought was normal.
Any reasons for this or is it just an illusion?
The crank sprocket on the ca18 should have halve the teeth as
the sprockets?

Logically it can only be a multiple of 2 since the camshaft has to operate at a frequency of half the cranksft in a 4 stroke. It would be 2:1 without a doubt. Unless there's two bumps on each lobe, then it would be 4:1. Teeth # or pitch circle diameter will both be 2:1. Stick a rule next to it. Must be an optical illusion.

It must be! the crank sprocket must be halve for sure so 24 teeth?
will have to measure it tomorrow in the light.
Im interested in fitting a kawasaki zx14 head lately to the ca.
Ive been back and forth checking out one for wrecking at a motorcycle wreckers
and all the bores line up, water galleries almost right on,
oil an easy fix and most head bolts are not far off.
The problem is whether I setup it up as a chain, belt drive or both.
The easiest way would be to tie both cam sprockets with a chain
and then fix the ca18 belt sprocket on one only.
Then the belt to the crank sprocket.
Problem is lubricating the chain sprockets on the head will need
a sealed unit which will make the belt sprockets harder to fit.

ill post some pics up of the head and a sample I did on tracing paper
of the ca18de and how close they are. If I can get it to work I can
get a 180hp head that with and extra 400cc should be quite peppy if
the camshafts can flow enough down low.

This is the vvt head available with the provision on the cam sprocket
that can be modded for ca20 cambelt sprocket.
