Sorry to hear that PJ if its any consolation please read Topgears
single turbo with SU setup, it will make more power and torque
yet like an a15 will need engineering.
The a12 will be better on the freeway with 3.7 rear and the bigger
tires all round that a 1200 can get away with wont require a 5 speed.

Haha, the better cast iron head. The only way the J15 can be better is it were to run at 1500rpm for months.....or if it were to be used as a boat anchor. Glad to hear you avoided that. Good luck in the hunt.

stuffed a15 - $100.... no way.... you could get that just for the inlet manifold these days

Seems you VICs have to pay top dollar

Here is a running A15 I picked up for $200.00 (just on good friday) this included the 4 speed. H89, inlet & exhaust, running, no smoke. About to go in the 1000 as we speak (soon as I wash it down!).

how does it look recently rebuilt?

only thing that indicates anything to me is that welsh plug, and that does not look new at all

i reckon you ripped someone off big time! but good on you, we all score a bargain now and then

manifold, carby, carby base, rocker cover, fuel pump, alternator, head, waterpump etc
maybe a light reco, new rings etc and or just replaced most parts. Ive freshened up some
A series in the past this way, not a full rebuild but welsh plugs were good so used them again and the engine is still going strong in a friends propane forklift.

I'm with 1200rc the inlets sell for 150, that h89/75 head for around the 150 mark and the block for around 100 needing rebuild unless u find someone selling something they don't know what they have like the sweet a14 I bought off eBay that was rebuilt not too many ks b4 I got it and had I
alot of good bits and I only paid like 150 so u know sometimes good sometimes bad!
