#197 Re: Revhead has a new toy... 2 door sedan 1000.

I went to fire it up last week but for some reason the old starter motor didn't want to kick into action. So I decided to steering wheel fidget. On the 2 thou utes I bought there were 2 sports steering wheels so I toyed with the idea of selling the KB10 wheel as I am mega short on cash as I have an abundence of wheels and I wasn't particuraly happy with the look of the KB10 wheel. So lets go through the collection.

Origional wheel. Was replaced with another, just without the cover.

An old full size roadster style wheel. Needs restoration.

A smaller Boss wheel, a bit grotty but ok.

The KB10 wheel. Wood needs redoing and horn not working but otherwise really good.

And after I made the executive decision to modify the cover to put on it.

Needless to say I'm pretty happy with the result. I'm not sure how old the cover is, but if I can track down some red leather thronging for it I'll be very happy. It's just red cord for now.

So tonight the wheel was bolted on tight again and I changed out the starter motor and I'm ready to tackle Knox Carpark Meet tomorrow night.

Anyone else representing the Datsuns? Nobody ever seems to.

The driveway has a slight angle to it.

I also lipped the guards too. I took a fair bit of care when I did it to prevent damage to the guards. It's the first time I have succesfully not done any damage. I was very happy.

It sits approx 5mm higher in the rear giving it a slight rake. It looks good. I took a pic on Saturday but it turned out crap. Too much sun. I'll load it to photobucket shortly. Suffice to say, for me, it sits perfect. And the 5 speed I bought will be rebuilt shortly and installed. Fingers crossed.

Front dizzy mid dizzy meh. Go a14 and build up a10 hybrid 5 speed on side.

Nice wheel. What's the rear ride height like now. Slightly higher than before?

It's starting to be a nicely modded cruiser

Go for a reset leaf spring stack.

That is what I would normally do, as I'm not a huge fan of blocks. In the end, after the holiday I used the left over cash to get the springs reset and an extra leaf added. I got it set 25mm lower at the rear with an extra leaf and it has a great stance and rides great. I took Mopar for a drive and he loved the way Fang handles.

I also have made a few impulse purchases, no thanks to people needing Christmas Cash putting up good stuff for sale. I managed to get a KB10 option steering wheel for it. The horn doesn't work but I'll eventually sort that out.

Next thing will be motor and gearbox. Hopefully I will be able to nut out what to do with the motor. I have an A14 now but I kind of want to leave it front dizzy. Maybe I'll do an A12 hybrid, mill the engine numbers off and create an A10 / A14... Hmmm.

Go for a reset leaf spring stack. Replace the friction pads between the each leaf and the ride is so much better. I remember when I did mine the ride was improved 10 fold, You could actually feel the rear end working through bump and rebound smoothly.

I think the car height looks just right. The car itself looks good.

definately looks the goods... but with no suspension travel and a bumpstop likely to be very close id say it'll not be handling too well
