Hey guys ive an A14 late style (dizzy towards the back)
Is this the correct fuel pump the guy at auto one didnt seem confident
i know there is a long and short arm pump.

My car runs an electric pump so i dont have an old one to compare.

Well, if you fit the fuel pump, & it's the correct one, there should be some resistance the last 5 mm or so, as the pump arm touches the cam on the cam. If it goes in without any resistance, it's probably the wrong one, as the cam wont move the arm & it wont pump fuel. I put a 1200 pump into an A14 once. the engine wouldn't run, a bit of fuel in the float bowls would get it to idle for a short time, but not rev. Then I remember doing the opposite, putting a 120y pump into a 1200 & breaking the arm, so a hunt for another 120y pump ensued. Soon had that engine running. Made 100hp at the flywheel with that 120Y pump, too.

PS that looks like a long arm to me.

i will have a go at fitting it tomorow, just didnt want to fit it and be wrong and try to do the whole return a oily pump for a refund thing.

I can't remember the details but make sure you do get the right one. I also ran a long arm one and it wiped a gouge into the eccentric fuel pump lobe on the camshaft. Also be sure you fit the phenolic spacer back in place as this also influences the placement of the fuel pump arm against the cam ecc. lobe.

The pump I used was off an A14 or A15 and I put it into my A12. It looked similar to that one with the sealed top but it had a different looking arm again, more like the long one in the image shown by 1200rallycar.

Yeah, plenty.

I ran my sets of twin 45 webers, 40 webers, 40 PHH Mikuni's on stock pump, no issues whatsoever.

Some people have argued that you do need the higher pressure electric pump etc etc to supply these twin barrel carbs but they have never proved this and I have never faulted the factory pump on fuel delivery insufficiency.

well if you put a short arm in your motor you just wont get fuel cause it wont reach the cam

wont cause damage at all.... cause it wont run... but also cause it wont touch

i second that the mech pump if fine for twins, ran mech pump on rally car for last 3yrs

Had a go at fitting this today, it makes no contact with the cam, even with the spacer thing removed.
Looks like im back to auto one.

Now wheres that receipt.
