I would consider the ignition as the weakest (most worthy of upgrade) part of the A-series. Even more so than the non cross-flow two valve head.

Electronic ignition is always the first upgrade I do on any of my engines. Definitely worth it, but depending on the rest of the upgrades it can be just a cheap upgrade (either conversion or petronix).

L20B came with small dizzy & cap and later L20B with EI came with large dizzy and cap (same as A12 EI cap).

I have a scorcher ignition on my A12. It makes a huge difference. I recently replaced the cap which is the same as an L20 dizzy. Not shure of the difference. Might be able to swap the gear and use a scorcher locking mechanism which is adjustable.

It is not worth a couple hundred. You can get it for 35 to 100.

Electronic ignition is the Best mod you can make to your engine. Without it you need to replace points & condensor ever 12 months. And can stll have trouble on rainy days

Buy an E15 dizzy and cut it with hacksaw to fit the A12.
Pertronix works but you'll still have the small dizzy with small cap more prone to crossfire.

See Electronic Ignition

You can put a petronix plate in it ,they are cheap as and bolt straight into the stock dizzy ,that way your mechanical advance is still the same as stock to

Not much wiring involved either ,Nigel (levey) has done it without a problem so maybe ask him about it

Ive got a stock sunny sedan as my run around car, just wondering if forking out a few hundred for a electric dizzy is worthwhile for more performance and reliability?

any info would be great
