Definite BS story. Over pricing is a simple way to NOT get a job should they not like it (too small of a run or they are simply too busy).

Hello,

This is all going a little pear shaped, I'll be needing more time to try other places. The place I normally go to has been completely unhelpful. So much so that the price for one unit is the same price for an order of ten units! Even with the history of comparatively large orders I have submitted on previous occasions, they still won't budge on price.

Normally the more you buy the more the price drops. Apparently due to the dimensions of the item the cutter cannot do multiple units but has to do 10 one-offs so to speak (confused? yeah me too, I suspect it is just a BS story to avoid having to do such a small order ).

Nevertheless if you are interested please say so, the more numbers the better the price.

Chris

As a guide I would expect the 4AGE flange to cost $75.00 including postage. Hard one to pick at the moment without solid numbers, the more numbers we get the lower the price gets. I'm working to get a few of spares to help bring the price down.

The design has changed once again to incorporate a lower bridging bar.

I might be interested in the flanges, can you PM the cost involved?

Yeah I was originally going to get some Alloy CHS and crush one end as you suggest.
couldnt get the size I wanted though, so had my tubes machined up from 2" billet.

Another way I have seen it done is to crush the CHS so as the sides come in and create an oval shape. I'll try and get a picture up.

Is there any more interest?

KitchNZ, To get my inlet tube from round to oval I was going to machine up a piece of steel the same size of the ports i'm using, weld it to a piece of flat steel, heat up the inlet tube and swage it over the port size piece of steel by press and then manipulate it to shape, slicing and rewelding the inlet tube on the under side may be needed.
You only need to do this for about 20 - 25mm of the inlet tube, enough to make the shape for welding.

Hey Kitch, yeah I didn't click when I saw that narrower shank in the runner tubes, good idea, any reason why you didn't just use some tapered hollow section? Is this method a slower more gradual way to choke it down rather than doing the conventional sleeve chokes like you see in a side draft carburetor?

Also have to suit L-Series. Send a PM.

I have machined my inlet tubes, to kind of work like a venturi, and also reduce down to a more "mild A series" choke size. I have a machined flare at the end to match port to the 43mm bodies, and have enough size in the pipe to match port the oval shape at engine end. Have to transition Ø43mm to 38x32mm oval size some how. I think I will end up with Ø30-32mm in mid part of my tube.

Out of curiosity, how big are the throttle bodies ? 40mm or bigger?
