Alternate fit A-series oil filters? |

So the other day at work, I coincidentally found that a 1993 Infiniti J30 uses a PN/ 2827 oil filter, which is the same as theA series oil filters, but also showed in the fram brand a different filter number, being a 3682. The differences seem to ONLY be the location of the filter gasket, moving to the outside of the filter body. In my parts store system, the only filter it shows to fit the A motor is a P/N 2827, however because the J30 uses a 2827 or a 3682, they should be interchangeable, correct? This would allow me to use any filter for the J30, and I'd have a wider range of available filters for my A-series rather then just a small breed.

Hi metalmonkey47, There are dozens of oil filter that work with the A-series. Starting with good old Ford F1 filter. Quote: ELEMENT-oil filter, cartridge. Threads: 3/4-16 UNF, Outside Diameter: 80

TIP: Use a Ford oil filter #F-1 on your 1200. You only need to use a rotary grinder to grind 1/4 inch off the engine boss. The rotary bit cuts cast iron like butter. Then it fits.

* In the US, it is less expensive than the small "import" filter
Pretty much any A-series filter fits. Or any with the same threads and diameter. Few are too long for the A12.
