Finally got Fergus back together today. She's been apart since the cruise so feeling very unloved.
I discovered Otomoto had sent me the wrong springs so got in touch with them and they were good enough to send the right ones out. I put them in and I now have suspension travel. It has rock hard before. I replaced 7kg/mm with 4kg/mm springs.

I finished off my Commodore calipers (paint and rebuild) so put them in as well while the struts were out.

One added positive side effect of the softer springs is she goes a bit lower now. What do you think, good height??-

Arse is a bit high though now-

Barely worth s mention but msde my VL cslipers pretty today. The mounts are 3M Cast Iron and the rest is just 3M caliper- paint. The paint goes on thick and doesn't like sticking much but it looks the part-

I'll test them on my car, I think 1200rc did similar on his rally car, but look similar to maddat lac. I thought was castor.

Hey Mik, they're for camber/track not castor. You cut the inner end off your LCA and weld the threaded nut on. This then gives you the adjustability to add track (negative camber) or shorten track (positive camber).
I hope my welding id good as my whole front end will be my welds! Mik- are you free to be my test pilot? I'll pay you in rust removal....

Good to get some progress in- I'm jealous. I have to wait for the warm nights but noticed a lot if spiders again this year already locally.

Haven't seen this castor rods, someone was nice enough just to thread mine a bit longer for the same effect. Makes the steering heavy but more stable for sure. Pics or ban

Wow, time flies by. I've done jack $hit on Fergus or the other beast lately, too busy preparing for my 80 metres of retaining walls I have to put on my block prior to building.

I had my first opportunity the other day to finally do something so I attacked the guards with the angle grinder so they don't get ripped off. I (roughly) folded the entire guard lip in as well so it looks pretty neat considering.
The next problem was the inner wheel well. To fix that (this might be common knowledge for all I know!) I got the angle grinder out and made a cut in the section of panel that the firewall butts up to. I then changed the blade over to the grinding blade and opened up the slot so it was about 10mm wide. I then got the hammer out and carefully (not) belted the cr@p out of each side to move the firewall back. It made it pretty easy having the free space to collapse the panel onto. I now just need to pull the inner panels off and weld up the now collapsed slot. The wheels now move through pretty much a full arc. It might be a diiferent story under heavy cornering but I've got no brakes on it at the moment so I'll have to wait and see.
I'll try to take some photos tomorow. It looks a bit $hit as the paint is cracked from folding the lip in. Doesn't worry me as I'll paint it at some stage anyway.

I cleaned up my calipers on the wire wheel so if the weather is good tomorrow I'll paint them up and have them ready for installation next week.

I've ordered a weld on lower control arm kit (designed for an AE86 Corolla so hopefully it fits!) that I'll make up to give me a bit of adjustability for track.

Has anyone tried to make one of these up before??
