He he! I knew I'd get a few disgruntled comments about the tech plans.

I love Dattos and I love technology, why not join them both together?

To be honest the main reason for the leccy windows is cause I can't wind the windows down with my knees pressed hard up against the winders!

The keyless entry inspiration comes from my Audi. I know it's lazy but it is so good to not have to fumble around in your pocket for the keys to get in or start it.

Nice find shoota. Good luck with adding in the mod cons, lets us know what you go with and how they work out. I'm doing some similar stuff but normally don't mention it here because of the types of replys above.

Looks like a very tidy stocker ute you pick up there Shoota, perfect for a daily and a good base for a later project.
I'd have to agree with Ivan, as it sounds like a very good idea in theory, it will be a fairly big task (I realise you're up for it) and whilst they might operate fine to start with, these sort of gadgets fail very commonly. I love the simplicity of the Datsun 1200 and how easily everything is operated. Its not a new 2011 model and so these mods are very out of place on a 1980's vehicle. Just my thoughts Shoota.

Incorrect Ivan m, the 1/4 vent windows ate the ac, the windows are there to get rid of the smell he leaves behind.

Time to get new rwc guys that don't poke holes in stuff

Shoota, Mr Datsun gave your ute a key and a door handle. This is to open the door and get in.

You will also notice on the inside of the door there is a silver thing with a black knob on it, this is the window winder, it is used to wind the window up and down. It is also part of the air conditioner, when it is hot you wind the window down and when it is cold you wind the window up.

All pretty simple.

Ok, I bought Fergus a few weeks ago as I knew my other project (SR20DET Ute Project) is gunna take me a whole lot longer than expected! I wanted something to haul my gangly frame around in on a daily basis.
The plans I have for this ute will no doubt displease the Datsun purists. I intend to load it up with luxury "wank" items. By this I mean LED everything, proximety keyless alarm and entry (as in you don't even need to hit the remote button to unlock), shaved door handles with LED ring stainless entry buttons, power windows, air con (eventually) plus other bits and pieces.
As I say, it's not for everyone but what I feel like doing on this ute!

As with all Dattos you think one thing only to find another. By this I mean you think you have a perfect panelled car but all is not so when you really start looking!

Sorry for a lot of the crappy Iphone photos! This is her the day she arrived in my life. A few dings and knocks here and there but overall very good. Underneath the car is amazing, it still has that greeny blue colour to the exposed metal like it had when it rolled out of the factory. It's never been out of Melbourne I don't think.

I took Fergus in for her roadworthy and the guys did a bit of "prodding" around the panel and scraped the lovely paint off some hidden rust patches which don't pass roady.
I had a spare windy, rainy arvo on Sunday so got started on the rust repairs-

I've welded the patches in but before I got a chance to grind them down it started pissing down with heavy rain and it was dark so I whacked a coat of sealing primer on it to hold the rust at bay so I'll get back to it when I can.

And so it begins.......
