Hi,

nice build with some pretty serious mods.

Have you thought about adding a gusset to the 90 degree join at the rear clip where it meets the vertical and also fish plating the welds on the kick up?

the std frame branches off into a Y shape to retain strength in addition to the monocoque style of being spot welded to the floor.

It looks as if the entire weight and forces on the rear clip would transfer through to that attachment point, moreso if you are planning to put some serious power through that.

The 4 link coil overs being a long distance a way from that point would also place load on that point every time you hit a bump, exacerbated by the leverage effect.

I'm doing a bit of research now in planning a hotrod chassis and these are the normal minimum recommendations when cutting a chassis.

I'm not trying to be clever, your work looks great, but if you aren't going through engineering, it may be worth a thought.

Cheers

Ed

rsr100 yea ive been watching your build aswell and was sure it was your other 1200 ute you had for sale once before that i thought might aswell buy that instead of starting on mine. after i started on the clip i actually thought i should of just unpicked the original rear chassis at the back of cab and at rear and just cut 200 or so out of the channels that joined the rails to move rails in and put some decent tyres under keeping the leafs and use caltracs. with the engineering side of things i guess in qld here somethings just get missed haha

Far out idatto there are some mad wheels you put up there but I figure the 275 I have on the back will be plentiful for a street car this small.

Sorry iDatto but I'm the exact opposite- go large and go shiny!

This is where personal choice comes into it but I can't dig the little wheel thing.

Each to their own, you do what you wanna do with that gaping big wheel space you have inside those tubs!

hey mcdat yea i will get it on the road and rego'd obviously the rear end wont be fully legal but ill talk to my mate in the car club and see what i can do with other rego's either way it will be on the road as the original plan was to use it as a dump ute, so ill get the rubbish to dump and back fast.

and idatto haha stuff the chromies, i have a set of weld draglites but will keep the chasers on for now, there 15x4 and 15x10's and look fat, might even throw some spinners hubbies on
