Datto track car

Once the sedan is event worthy I'll be embarking on a new project. I'm looking at building a track only datsun of some sorts, mainly focused on drifting but also have a crack at some hillclimbs/supersprints/trackdays... As winton is only a 2 hour drive!
I'd be ideally looking at and IRS car, either 1600, 180b,200b or even 260c.. Fairly stout rb25, stripped interior, full cage, flares and tough wheels. What car would you choose and why? I know this is a 1200 forum but thought ppl would like to discuss it.. I'm also interested in any rolling shells ppl might have.

Haha this crossed my mind, but I ruled it out. It's going to be a budget racer. 1200's have a higher purchase price, I have craploads of rb engine parts lying round, so I wanna make good use of them, will require more work to fit one in a 1200. And the wheelbase is to short.

Wards should go for over 98inch wheelbase with a 6.
These 98+ inch & "L6" are cheap from Jp atm. 910 IRS bluebird L24/6 - 99.5 inches 810 IRS bluebird L24/6 - 98.4 inches (200B) 610 IRS bluebird L20/6 - 98.4 inches (180B) Is the Rb25 going to be NA or Boosted? TB48 DOHC VVT - 280hp/4,800 Max SAE. / 400 Nm @ 3200 RPM Comp ratio: 9.0 to 1 (very low for NA) 102mm stroke is less than jaguars legend 6 Lemans engine at 106mm but with 2 extra valves and more potential.

WARDY go for it I say.
My only caution is, pick your category before building, would hate to see the money spend on mods and then rock up on the day and not find a category to race in. Particularly CAMS events. Bryan

yeh ill definately be going with the longer wheelbase sedans.. The rb will be boosted, quite alot actually lol. Will pump out around the 280-300rwkw. so should be fun. main purpose will be drifting as all my mates are into it and i wanna give it a crack but drive something different.
Bryan, i have thought about this, i would only participate in track days i reckon. I simply couldnt afford to campaign my 1200 and a track car at the same time lol.. so it will only be for some fun, not competitive racing. The 260C will be the easiest by far for the conversion sporting the L6 engine from factory its just the weight that puts me off.. i was unaware that the 200/180B's come in the L6 configuration also.. 240K is also an option

Wardy with your ability... a tilt front replica
using local sss 180b just as a thought. It will make a long front 180b then get FRP front panels and you can have easy replacements. You can get the chassis plate and section with number from some wreckers over there, there are over 100 of them rusting into obscurity. Seen them on the Rusty relics threads and myself saw several 610 L20/6 in Nagano when I was there. Probably the most charismatic pure Nissan made, others borrowed from other cars definitely unique. i have access to heaps of S13 stuff.. but i wanna do something different. They will both cost around the same kind of coin to do. But the datto will just take more time.. so yeh, i dont really like following trends too much lol..
Shoota i would love to be in something like that!!.. but i would have to sell my 1200 to fund it, and that is not happening!
