Now I've done it...

I got a new gear box mount rubber and fixed the exhaust (was hitting body on bumps). Then being overly happy with everything I bought a new battery and salt/water belt... So what's next I say...

Check the plugs, little rich, carby float levels are high (above the windows), read somewhere that lowering them will lean the carby overall... big mistake.

First it wouldn't idle. Tried putting floats back to where they were, now it won't start.

Sad person right here. Now I'm back on the push bike.

Yeah want to make a filter for it. The clutch and brake master are higher than the top of the carbie tho.

Ground clearance is fine, where exhaust passes gearbox cross member is a tad low but not a problem. The height issue is all about scrub and corners. I like corners but I haven't even put my wider rims on and I'm having to go slow at the roundabout.

That fronts not low... The lips just too big. Break it off some.

There's not much under a rotor so how too low?

Chuck an a series carb hat on there and will look stock as a rock almost. Make sure it says Nissan or Datsun

Finished and loving it.

Exhaust sounds killer now.... for a rotary.

Goes awesome, needs a tacho and carpet. Doesn't feel like it needs a tune but haven't checked plugs yet.

Stoked with the ease and result of this build.

Downside is the front is now too low.

Its alive...

My exhaust sounds poo, got water leak from radiator hose that's on a angle. Oil leak from copper pipe weld that wasn't hot enough and needs a tune... but it starts first time and runs with a bit of choke.

Motor is in for final time I hope.

Tunnel took way longer than expected but once painted it looked a lot better than I thought it was going to.

Still need to do clutch pluming and make exhaust but almost all connections are done and its ready to turn over with some water and oil.

Was very tempted to start it tonight but not sure about db levels with just a manifold on a twin rotor in a shed.

Kinda spewing I didn't get it finished as I will be cutting down some 8m gums around the house next weekend and probably wont have a chance to get it finished.

Thanks mate.
Material is a little thick about 1mm I think, a friend makes aftermarket sumps and works at a truck body shop so grabbed some "semi galvanized" sheet out the bin for me and put a few bends in it to get me started. Yeah got some 50x50 washers to weld nuts to that will be tacked to the floor.

I did my own trans tunnel a while ago and it is no easy task. I'm more than happy with it tho. What material are you using there? Looks like .8?
Nice work on slotting the engine and box in
Chuck some decent plates on the gb mounts inside to spread the load out.
I know what its like doing work out of someone elses shop/shed thats ages away but keep chugging away mate...
Keep up the good work
