Had a break down already, the brass t piece i used to adapt the oil pressure sender and oil pressure switch broke off at the thread in the block and squirted oil everywhere, so not sure how to install the sender anymore. I drilled out the remainder thread and reinstalled just the switch. Same as the oil temp sender. Im thinking about running an oil cooler down the track so might install the senders there.

The next steps are:

- get carbs tuned. will be using ramtubes and a pipercross or K&N filter or similar, without any engine breathing as this will all be going to a catch can setup.

- install bucket seats, should pretty well bolt to the standard rails.

- sort out speedo sender. the electronic speedo jumps around all over the place. im sure its not the alternator as it was rebuilt at time of the conversion, si im thinking maybe the sender cable is running along a high amp/igition cable. what cable should be used on the electronic senders? maybe a shielded one?

- install golf lip.

out of time now but will try to get an update in tonight

cheers, josh

Josh, the safest way to mount the oil pressure switches for the guage & the dash light is to run an oil line (braided or otherwise) from the block to a T piece mounted on the inner guard, with the senders on the T Piece. The reason for the brass T pieces failing is fatigue of the T piece with a heavy sender at the end. I've had high tensile fittings fail, & the long VDO fittings are notorious for it.
A length of oil resistant line from Pirtek or Enzed, the fittings to connect the line to the block & the T piece & a couple of cable ties to attach the T piece, shouldn't cost that much. I've done it to all my race cars for the last 10 years & never had a problem with breaking pieces. Or you could get the VDO sender from an R31 Skyline that has 2 outputs, one for a light & the other for a guage. This is only if it'll work with your guage. SSS Stanzas had the same sender. It's just a big bulb with two connectors. VDO has a range of senders so they might have something to fit.

So skyline r31 use same oil pressure gauge sender as sss stanza. Sweet.

thanks for the info b310gx, I have all autometer guages so not sure of compatibility, it would only the the resistance range that would change between gauges though im sure.

I have done a little research into this and think im going to use a sandwhich plate under the oil filter, with two threads in it to mount oil pressure and oil temp, and also two AN (unsure of what size they would be) to run an external oil cooler. Anyone know any good brands that do these sandwhich plates and what thread size I would be chasing for an L18??

Thanks

Something like this would be good, it a Greddy item. Bit too bling for my liking but still searching for alternatives.

Dont ford falcons use similar... from memory the z9 filter may be same as l series but longer and more capacity.
