Riiiiight...so am I better off replacing the entire diff or is it easy enough to shim the centre to the new diff housing? Thanks Andy not sure why it seems to vibrate then? Will get it checked out one day - what's an average price to get a tail shaft balanced?

Well I paid about $170 for shortened new unis and balanced, so would be less than that. Seeing each uni was $30 lol

Did you have to get on your knees to get that price Mik?

Pretty sure we paid 250 for shortened new unis and a balance from Jeff Lagerway in knoxfield... He originally was thinking we'd be looking at the 500 mark...

Similar to what dirty, perverted old men talk about....

Which place did you go to, to have it done?
Also what tailshaft did you have done?
I had a 1600 tailshaft with the big unis done....

It is impossible. If you fit a new gear carrier it has to be re-machined. Not normally done. But you can fit new CRP with appropriate shimming.

Easiest, most reliable: get a good used rear axle assembly (the housing with gears) and swap the whole unit in.
