different kill switches hidden so one for fuel one for spark and one for starter. inhibitor switch hidden and one on the clutch pedal... or even become big get a few tats and then no little cocksucker will touch your car... but at the end of the day its only a datto pretty desperate if someone steals it... if your so paranoid why have the car. no matter what you do if they want the car they'll take it simple

I think like lots of you on this forum its not necessarily the dollar value thats bothersome about the car being stolen its all the countless hours invested in creating something. If I could go down to the Datsun dealer & buy a brand new 1200 with some insurance money after some A-hole stole it well then it'd be no big deal now would it. If being smart about protecting one things is paranoia then I assume you must enjoy having your sh*t stolen.

BTW - classic insurance with a agreed upon value if stolen, wrecked, act of god, etc... is cheap ($125/yr full coverage US $$) & I already have it set ridiculously high.

thanks for all the idea's, appreciated!

Exactly this..

I don't care what it is, it sucks having stuff stolen by a lowlife scumbag that can't be bothered to put in the effort to earn it legit

My grandad had a Subaru with a cool security thing.

In order to start you had touch a bolt he had located under the dash while turning the key.

The circuit was completed through your body. Unless u knew which bolt to touch the ignition was useless.

Ah , the old earth the circuit through the fingers trick aye...

But a fairly good one is you can use a LPG safety switch. Much the same as you can use it to power a electric fuel pump. What you do is connect it through the coil or starter motor circuit. Again, it needs a neg coil pulse to work and that can get bridged to the cig lighter as earlier mentioned. The funny thing is that when kill switch is engaged, it will kick the starter for a tiny bit, or even possibly almost start as the safety switch will give power for 4 seconds and no more. (probably not ideal on the starter circuit if your car starts easy) and gives falsesignals to the would be thief showing symptons like it wants to start.

The only drawback is that if you do use your cig lighter then it will be a pain if someone goes to light a cig while you're driving and the car conks out.

Otherwise... Brilliant.

Driving along the other day I spotted a ute that took me
back 20 years ago when I owned a daily/surf/camper/shagging
van with all my nomadic possessions.
It had a Radioactive goods warning sticker which made me take
notice straight away and change lanes, just the idea and
reaction I had/wanted back then but instead went for what
kept most away except the drunken swedish tourist chicks :)

Years ago I set up what I thought was a creative anti theft system. Don't know if it will work with modern stereos...

Wire in a relay to supply power to the coil (or more items) that is energized by the car stereo remote power switch line. If the stereo is turned on the car will start. If the stereo is off the car won't start. Just don't turn the stereo off while driving...

The year was 1991 when I misplaced the nut to secure the steering wheel on my old HG Holden Premier. Ahhh the Anti theft device that could do no harm. If you can't steer it you can;t steal it. Until my cousin drove it and yanked on the wheel when pushing in the clutch. That was an interesting moment.
