hmmmm, even the 1976 Ferrari was on crossply Avon slicks... probably designed to be stretched to try and reduce the movement inherent in the crossply construction. And the cornering pictures will make the outside appear more steretched than they actually are.

curent F1 radial slicks sit pretty square, but there is about 5" of sidewall to take up any stretch. Not real sur eits at all relevant to road tyres, as these are designed specificaly for those rims.

After trying mild stretched Tyres I just find it's a cheap way to get bug rims on a car and try and keep tem flush with guards or slightly in so guards don't hit.

I'm just about to give up on jap spec stretch and just go for go again.

Was even looking at 185 60 14 on a more pos offset rim to get more tyre on the road when new rear end goes in.

It's got it's place but it's not legal (just ask any tyre guy that values his public liability insurance) but a mild stretch seems practical eg 175 on a 6.5 rim

those 14x6.5 & 14x7 +8 wata's would be a nice fit with only lipped guards.
