Hi guys and girls if i get an engineer certificate for everything that i modify on my car can the cops defect me on something that has been certified road worthy.

should have no issues, wouldnt hurt to keep a copy of the engineers report and the roady in your rig. Although i have heard of some cases where the police can deem some modifications "dangerous" to other road users or to yourself and they enforce the law. What type of mods have you done?

depends how much you modify the car i guess, to get everything engineered on a highly modified car would cost a pot load i'd assume. and cops will find something if they look hard enough depends how bad you piss them off

Engineering is only deeming them as done safely, not rwc though for some stupid reason. State by state differs but depends what it's for. May be engineered but may not meet rwc requirements and rwc only valid for 28days in vic meaning it was only rwc at that point in time.

Also engineers needs to be presented within 30 days in vic so could be similar situation.

a lot of engineers do roadworthys too. best to find one whom does both and there will be no issues. and as lethal_john said, a cop will find something depends how much you piss them off.

Hi guys was talking to Dave from Awsome Auto her in town,hes doing the mods for me when i get the cash.Hes doing a ute for his son and told me that he is moving the original chassie rails in by two inches and that the engineer that he uses has said he will pass it.So when he told me that i got all excited because i want fat rubber on the back obviously to have as much traction as possible and i love the look.

There are two low volume vehicle certification engineers where I live. ONe is a fvckwit, the other is a Full GC.
The GC one has had all kinds of trouble with the 5.0. Some of them dislike him since he's an enabler who allows young people to drive cars that have mods.
I know you fullas have all kinds of anti fun laws, but it pays to keep your documentation (Here we get an official tag rivited in the engine bay) in case of draconian lawmen.

Mcdat I'd hate to be that engineer who signs off on that because uf any one ever questioned it im sure under the new national adrs and accreditation engineers have to go through to be approved to sign off on mods- it's a no no. In vic anyway but Nationally I'm 90% sure it's a no go legally.

If you need that much rubber I'm guessing it's too much power for the chasis long term

These days it don't matter what piece of paper or even who u know if they want to get ya they will no matter what! You can try and fight it if you want but these days if you do it buy the book u can still get done! They only need to think somethings wrong and wooop!
If It makes noise and goes fast they'll get ya! At least it's not a import that's all I say go sleeper style and keep it quiet and u should be safe!

Supafatto is on the money, if they "think" that something is wrong or that something has been changed to what the engineer's report says then they'll sting you.

Attitude goes a long way in these situations. If you keep a level head and are polite they are much more inclined to give you the benefit of the doubt.
