haha typed a large reply and closed the page :/
breifly :
gearbox xmember is fine like that , especially a prefabbed kit like maddat.
on mine : was a custom xmember but .sandwhich plated through the floor with roughly a 200x200 3mm plate on top.
engineer was fine with it..

i strongly recomend an engine dampner tho.
although you dont have the maddat booster like me , still isnt a nice gap.
while drifting my motor has torqued enough to snap the bleeder nipples off..
engine dampner or solid engine mounts will fix the problem tho.
just a heads up :)

also. s15 radiator fits perfect. excel bottom hose. unknown top hose..
but^ i did modify my motors top water outlet so it faces to the side not forward (might just be an s13 thing)
need any other fiddly info you cant find just ask me on fb bud.

Looks good man.
I think I have the same strut tops, I've had mine for years and they are installed but the car hasn't been driven. They deteriorated very quickly late last year and last time I jacked the car up they separated at the blue filling stuff. I think I bought mine atleast 7 years ago though. If you see blue shavings come through the top of them then it will be time to get them checked.

You need to get Datsun plastic center caps for the white walls - finishes them off perfect.

its a maddat sr gearbox xmember. at first glance i thought the same thing but its extremely strong. as far as engineering goes it should be fine as alot of others have got there engineered with them.

Nice placement of motor. Did engineer see the gearbox x member?
In Vic they don't like the trough the floor like that, plus wont that cut out weaken the xmenber? All the load on that top welded or bent plate?

Not criticizing just curious observation. Maybe do like noteven did and box under it to so exhaust passes through gap?

Wasn't sure on vynil roof but it's growing on me. Keep going
