Keep in mind I use DOT race rubber;

Currently running Hoosier Vintage TD's 185 60D-13 these are bias ply but smaller circumference so they help the gearing.

I was using Yokohama Advan A048s, before that it was A008s (these were SCCA Spec Racer Ford control tires) Toyo and Hoosier also make em in this size.

I buy the tires used from John Berget racing tires (on the net) about $55-65 each shipped. Depending on how much driving you do they could work, being so soft they wear quickly but you could probably manage 5K out of them...........I get 600 race miles, main reason I change them is they've gone off not because they are worn. For street driving this likely wouldn't be an issue.

Rallytwit, what brand/model tires are you using? I'm not in love with the federal all-seasons i've got now. I'm completely new to tires that are smaller than 16-17's. I've been building 240sx's for too many years i guess.

Nope, I'm in Arizona. Don't know of any shops in california personally.

From what i gather the carrera set up is kinda hard to find. I lucked out and got mine and a bunch of other cool vintage 1200 race parts from a guy I bought a '68 roadster 1600 from.

Nothing wrong with a good ole A12...............I have my bikes for serious power............1200's are fun

Now as for the best turning car ever...................I repeatedly hear from other folks at the track who can't believe how quickly the little 1200 changes direction.............from guys in Evo's to fellow vintage racers. My favorite has been from a top caliber Kart racer who rode along with me at a track day "it's gutless but it turns really fast"

The 205's probably work well on the road but if you haven't had a chance try the 185's, I think you'll like them.

420-
Wheels are 13x6 -6/-8 Panas tires are Federal 205/60/13 all the way around. I had staggered 185/60-205/60 but my tire guy had to order 185's so in a pinch i went 205's all the way around and just did a 10 mil spacer up front to clear the coilover.

The A12 is built. I guess i could have just cut it up and done something newer but it rips enough for me. I have an RB S13 that is my fast car... this is my fun car.

As for the suspension its not a swap, its an OG Carrera brand weld on kit. This thing turns better than any car I own or have built so far.
