my rally car is 900kg, with half full petrol tank ready to run (no driver)

that is 1984 pounds.... so under 2000 should be easy, the rally car has a full steel roll cage and many extra safety and navigational stuff in it

if you can get under 2000 then you wont need so much horsepower to go the same speed

yes Im well aware of the cultus. I believe its gti? I dont believe it was marketed in the USA though. I know we have a chevy sprint turbo. cuz I own one lol not awd but cool litle commute car.

Im also well aware of the justy(made by subaru?) its also a little awd car.

I just found what you mention. 323 gtx. Amazingly light at 2600lbs.
Sounds cool... if I can find them, seem to be rarer than my turbo sprint.(which ive only seen one ever and I own it.)

In the end might not be worth the trouble if your lucky enough to find one since its still about 4" longer and 4" wider on the track. I would rather stick with dsm if thats the case since both will need body mod/flare. the aftermarket support on the dsm is crazy vs rare/everything custom. Although if i find one may be a good little collector.

so in the end out of all these awd dsm are the only one readily available. Theres one for sale now thats a shell- no engine/tranny or transfer case for 350. I may just pick it up but will see.

Alot of guys have great results with mild ca's and srs in rwd. Awd won't Be a magic answer for traction in a light shell for traction.

yea gear box are also second concern which is why dsm was my top pick. the stock can be made to work and if not aftermarket gearbox are available if i decide more power.

and ya I understand that but 4 tire traction will give me better traction that 2.

I owned a 500whp mk3 supra before my datsun and it would break loose a 275 all summer kumho tire... from the time I bought it from the store. (yea I regretted that choice lol)
I dont see a supra getting traction at 600+whp with 275 or less. those things are way too dam heavy.

and ya no auto for me please

how much power do you have on it? I dont really plan to rally, interested in straight line performance. But yes I understand your point. I guess i just like going faster everytime I upgrade to a different project.

If you want 4WD with no gimmicks or electronic issues
and a light bodies car then you can go past any ute or
pickup truck as you guys call them as you in the US?

The 1g dsm uses the most tuneable engine in the world
for a 4 cylinder the 4g63 but the only way you will
enjoy this engine with over 400hp is for it to be in
a well setup RWD car of models that Im not aware if they
reached your shore, we have rwd sigma and lancers etc.

However going back to the AWD 4g63, you should consider a

easy just change the sohc 4G52 2ltr to 4G63T 2ltr :)

I don't like litre bikes, they are too slow :P

Supras don't have any issues fitting 255s, 275s, etc. The later models are even better again at fitting big wheels - the standard wheels are nearly 10" :)

Beyond the above suggestions, really the only things you can do are stickier tyres, wider tyres, softer suspension & improved geometry & suspension aids (eg. caltracs).

ya they dont, but I dont think you can fit 315 or 295 on stock wheel well of mk3. Mk4 yea.

have you guys done anything to maybe balance out the f/r weight ratio? and i cant go to radical on suspension set up because its a street car, I dont want something too unstable to turn because it set up on straight line performance.

whats the widest can you put under stock fender?

ya looking like I may have to scratch the awd but I will keep looking into it until Im sure I cant build it myself.

and the trucks no go. I need it to be 1975 or older for one. plus one of the reason im changing cars is because i need more seats. ae 4-5 seats and second with that weight Ill keep my car. I would only stand to loose to swap to that from my datsun.
