I like the idea of you utilising the existing x member mounts. You planning on engineering it? Not sure if the welds like that would pass as it seems to be just sitting on to of old cut towers. at least can use a series rubber mounts.
I haven't made a x.member yet. So its good your giving a go

Gearbox in yet?

Yep would like to get it engineered, the mounts are strong as #OOPS#, used 5mm plate on the block, box is mounted, used a ae86 cross member then used 5mm plate 100x100mm anchor points welded on the floor pan. Tail shaft in, exhaust in just gotta make up another hanger.
Would be cool to have it ready for the all jap day in Nov but no biggie if not.

think mik was talking about the engine crossmember mounts. that look like the standard mounts have just been shortened
most engineers would definately not pass them, you might find the odd engineer that might think about passing them
basically they look like #OOPS#, butt joined and crappy looking welds and thats not a good way to start out when getting something engineered

so im guessing you moved the engine back when you made the block mounts?

Cheers, yeah i know they are not the best looking mounts, if an engineer or scrutineer aint happy then ill grind them off and make some flash looking ones, no biggie, im leaning towards getting it club rego'd as there is no chance i will drive it more than 90 days a year, i would like to attend events and the price is right.

I didnt move the engine back, it come out of a 1200 ute with the same box and tail shaft so i lined it all up from that point if your picking up what im putting down, still need to fit a maddat sway bar to clear the sump.

Was doing a landscaping apprenticeship but have recently thrown that in as being 26, trying to pay rent and eat let alone try and put a datsun together on $11 an hour isn't the easiest thing in the world.

The seats fit in great, had to drill a couple of holes in the passenger side to move them out 5mm and the same plus a 5mm spacer on the drivers side so i can run the stock slider.

Have not started it yet, my dog ate one the vacuum sensor but also wanna upgrade the water setup as old mate was running FWD 4age gear which im not a fan of and i also wanna make some changes to the fuel system.
