Interesting. I know there is a lot of controversy over this because of the math and the octane ratings. But what really matters is real world measurements. The results trump the paper figures. And E85 can work very well.

That is one f-king impressive ute!
Not just the insane power output from such an old and small engine. But how well it hooks up off the line. I'm sure if you bolted that motor into most 1200's it would struggle to run that quick.

seeing it makes me want to do an A14 turbo build I've been collecting parts for. maybe oneday.

yea was thinking the same thing dave, it is pretty impressive this car and sikynes shows you can get some half decent power boosting an a-series

Also an A12 block with a14 turbo for a b20 would be interesting.

Yet most suzi swift gti tubos are boosting reliably with prepped stock rods, cheap vitara pistons stock cultus manifold at around 350hp atw - 20kg lighter engines and less overall cost w/ readily avail. rwd 5 speeds & autos.

Yet its nice to have that Datsun heart feeling.

Indeed!
I only run 14's, but people still comment at the track at how respectable that is for what it is.
Anyone can make something modern or with big cubes run fast. But not anyone would do it with a datto.

qft! peeps forget how simple this engine is

I would like to start a thread on the most powerful and fastest A series vs the same for an L series but might make enemies. :)

anyone know the faster turbo L series in a 1200 ute or similar?

I have no love the the L series. They're too hard to work on.
But all things being equal with the same set up as that A15 an L series should be able to turn the same results.

The thing is, there have been more turbo L series setups
that A series I believe and yet none in any 1600 or other
car has been able to get the times this car has achieved.
So although the L has bigger capacity, valve, ports and sohc
the A has still gone faster so far that Im aware of.

The A is either just faster or on par with white Zombie!!!! :)
Now thats a good battle to compare to also.

Would be nice to have white zombie vs this car!
one ups the boost while the other the amps!!

That would be a cool race indeed!

The 510 is at a minor disadvantage on the 1/4 with it's irs rear end.
How fast are the 510's going in the 1/4 mile thread at ozdat?
