No worries I bought a 1ltr container to find out how good it its and Im convinced theres is no better paint for the backyarder or pro as it can be sprayed also but often ruins blocks your spray gun if you dont clean it quickly enough.

Your coupe is the best colour as far as Im concerned and the
ca18det is one of the best combos for it. The 1zzfe toyota engine has solid lifters that fit straight into it by luck of chance as done by another racer who is campaigning a celica with the ca18det. He is on Ozdat with that info and Ill never forget it as that engine is coming in often at wreckers in yaris and similar corollas.

yeah If i had my time again I probably would, or at least pay someone else to do it.
I only have one area that needs a bit more paint so I may as well persevere with what I have done to date.

To try not get get bogged down in a regulation debate. I'm not worried. I feel I have sufficient coverage from the eligibility officer, which has apparently discussed and agreed at a National level also.
If you want to debate it, then I recommend you add a post over at IPRAforum, I'm sure you will get a healthy discussion there.

It will be another couple of weeks before I finish the paint work. Going to have another go at smoothing the panels tomorrow and then will shoot the white next weekend. I've got a couple of runs in the white on the cage. Man that was a pain in the arse to paint.

I have enjoyed the challenges this build has thown up and am pretty keen to get the car on the track some time this year. Maybe not for all the nsw IPRA rounds but fingers crossed I will make a couple.

I believe the rule is going to be changed to allow EM to run cages to the towers. I havent seen any official documentation, but it could be out.

CAMS sent out warnings a while ago regarding cages, warning that the cage min specs were changing. Cars already in the build could be registered with CAMS by 31-12-11 if the cages didnt meet the new 2012 specs. This is so cars turning up for cage compliance in 2012 could still be issued a logbook.

The cage extention to the towers could have been part of the new min cage specs.

Such a little and improving mod would be ridiculous not to allow! what a shame if so :( fine effort McGee regardless.

If you are worried about paint damage some guys are using whitecoate from por15 makers and its pretty much scratch resistant stuff that can be applied with a good roller also with no runs, orange peel or skill :)

available anywhere in oz now about 280 for 4L.

Hmmm, would'nt normally jump in on this, but as it may save you some grief down the road and as a fellow datto racer/CAMS scrutineer i feel i should.
What L18_B110 has said is correct and your catergory tech officer has his/her wires crossed or has misunderstood your efforts. The exception may be a state only rule change exclusive to NSW that i am not aware, however that would seem strange as would mean the vehicle could not be deemed legal in other states of Oz for fear of exclusion also making the national log book a mockery.Do yourself a favour and ring one of the many scrutineers on the log book register and have them take a peek before you get too far down the track and it's all too hard.
Cheers

Mate,
I'm not going to argue the point with you. I have it cleared with the state eligibility officer already, it is all above board.
