The metric 10.9 is the equivalent of a Grade 8 "inch" bolt

a quick note - we use the grade 5 and grade 8 terminology downunder, in the same way you guys do for 'imperial' bolts (or whatever they are called)

iirc the metric equivalent of grade 8 is called 8.8 - might match up with you guys as well?

Aidan, why don't you just listen to the voice of experience, ask Ian what he does, (I know what the answer will be) If you don't have a contact for him let me know and I will pass one onto you.

If when you have a look at your crank and it is damaged, let me know and I will swap it for one of the ones that I have here to help you out, I don't use A14 cranks and I'm pretty sure I have a couple of lighter weight ones here.

We know about Nissan, they have quality parts.

Grade 8 bolts won't work as only the oldest A12s used Imperial threads. He needs Metric bolts for A14 engine, the kind we use here in America.

I dunno about the Nissan bolts.

However, check for a Mill Supply Store with the Grade 8 equiv that you guys on the bottom of the world use, err 12.9 ? is that close.

Fastenall Bolt company is a reputable dealer.
There's a world of info on their site.

BEWARE of bolts with No Company Logo on the head, or nuts with NO slashes around the perimeter.

where abouts do i get these nissan high tensile bolts? could really use them.

and yeah i had to drill with the left hand drill bit, then hammer them easy out into the hole, 4 of them came out using the left hand drill bit but the other 2 required hammering the easy out into the drilled hole,

NOTE: took me and my mate 2 hours to get them all out, high tensile bolts are a real bitch....

went through a whole set of easy-outs,

Left-Hand drill bits often remove broken bolts as well and sometimes easier than easy-outs

Ease-Outs exert an outward force against the thread holes whereas LH bits do not.

is the use of Loctite necessary

Not in my view, in "This" application as the vibration is minimal, Granted do make Note the usage you guys are putting the A series is beyond by experience.

Regarding "Proper" bolt torque, this is related to several usages.
1 - Clamping Force
2 - Bearing "Crush" Force

Regarding the Pressure plate & Flywheel use, I suggest going by the bolt capacity chart instead of the Nissan suggested torque.

guys report no problems with brand new nissan high-strength bolts. Dowl the crankshaft, torque them properly and go racing.

what kind of High Tensile bolts did you use for your flywheel? i would rather remove the stock ones and put some nice new ones in because my a15 makes 140hp and i just want to remove the problems, cheers
