good luck with 1o,ooorpm ,with 80mm bore (what pistons & rods), call me if help needed. nimso make a multi shim 80.5mm head gasket.(copper will need o-ringing)

I'm with bige - good luck with 10,000rpm...

From my experience, it is far easier to bore a big bore block to suit a big bore head gasket than it is to get a big bore head gasket made (and work) to suit a big bore block.

Words of advice for anybody wanting to do big bore stuff in the future, start with the head gasket.

huh? you have a warped head gasket?... a atandard gasket will allow a mild overbore. why are you boring it so big? be a bit careful, if you are mixing up bore with stroke and getting told a copper head gasket is the go you might need to understand a bit more before your budget gets blown!

speak to ernie (bige) he is an a series guru and will point you in the right direction

tryed to measure the gasket today with a ruler, (almost 100% its not accurate) but it seems the piston holes in it are 79mm could be 80mm but wouldnt trust a ruler, i need one of those proper digital measuring thingo's.

yeah i would really hope for 10 000 but obviously wont get that, the engine is capable of 8500rpm but i pulled a massive burnout at my farm and found myself hitting 10 000+ rpm's which i would say contributed to me blowing my head gasket, will the nismo gasket hold 8500 easy?

That won't cause a head gasket problem. More likely to break a piston or bend a valve, but the A-series is tough.

Head gasket problems are almost always caused by these:
* Overheating
* wrong torque (fasten in three stages, circular pattern)
* incorrect prep. Block and head face impeccably clean, threads chased, not oiled

Less likely causes for a blown head gasket are:
* Defect in manufacture of gasket
* head warped past spec (4 thousands inch)
* Extrememly high combustion pressure (more than 10 pounds boost?)
* Bored in excess of 79 mm (may need fire rings)

A ruler can measure to an accuracy of 1mm.

A15 with 79mm pistons: 1608cc
A15 with 80mm pistons: 1649cc
