I hate to be a bother, but I was going through all the boxed up stuff from the car and I misplaced the trunk lock! I cannot find it anywhere!! URGH! I will willingly pay anybody who has a spare. Any takers?

Unfamilia: lines the scrub rims more? ???

Still working on her. Have been blocking out the primer, so no pics unless you like looking at primer get sanded. I think it is the most boring part of the job!

So I promised pictures of progress so far.

The fenders were in sad shape and since they are not easily available here in the US, I took them to bare metal and fixed the dents and metal

I also changed the offset of the front so now the front and back are the same width but different offsets. Tires clear fine with no rubbing and the back looks to be bigger even though the wheels and tires are realy the same size.

So now, the whole car is in high fill primer and ready to block sand. I hope in the next couple weeks to finally get it painted and then I can finally get it running.

So I'm gonna resurrect this thread since I finally got some headway made.

First off; I simplified and changed a lot. The wheel scrub issue was easy: change the offset, so now we fit good.

I also dumped the Acura seats and I'm going to go with the stock seats. Simple reason: they fit better and can still use the back seat.

I guess I just needed to stop and quit getting carried away with what the car needed to be. So, we're keeping all the original lines, and a lot of the original and evenly mixing in some new school cool.

Photobucket is down so pics tomorrow.

Bodywork continues. It seems absurd how so many people in the US don't even know what this car is. And even then, I'm going to make it harder by removing some of the trim badging. Most of the stuff on the car was OK, but I decided to not put on the center rear badge and the trunklid "datsun 1200" badge. I welded up the mounting holes this evening. I also welded shut the old holes for the mirror and the two locations for the radio antenna. For my radio antenna I'll do something a bit more concealed. I also fixed the tire rub problem and that won't even pose an issue now.

I got the fenders and apron mocked up in position on the car to see how much flare I'll need and it looks like I'll be fine with a moderate flare. I will need to cut the fenders a little to make it all work. Not too concerned as both fenders need some serious TLC to get right even to stock.

The leather Acura TL (Honda) seats will work fine too. I got the mounting figured out and it should not require any bastardizing the car.

I'm just in love with the stance of the car though. Can't wait to get past this panel beating phase. I wanna get this done and drive it!

So I had a pair of leather seats donated to me from an Acura TL. They are fully power, and black leather with a breathable leather center section. I think those will make the car pretty awesome, so I'll be seeing how I can fit them in.

Here's some progress so far. Right now I'm starting to see the basics of what image I've been going for and I'm excited.
