tidy_1200, this beautiful ute still has the drum brakes?

Well fitting discs will be a nice improvement. They are easier to work on for one thing.

I'll be looking into this in the near future just waiting on brackets and calipers to come! Plan is to have 3 or 4 setups to see which is best for circuit days and then spring rates and heights, and the list goes on!
Good luck with the ute and strut setup as well keep us posted

These look like the go!!!!!! haha
http://www.maddat.com.au/suspension-parts.php - Product No - FSA200B (The second, shortened 200B $995)
With these
http://www.maddat.com.au/brake-parts.php - Product No - FBK200B (the second one again, 200B rotors and calipers $870)
and just add another $100 for slotted rotors and $45 for braided lines...

What you guys think?

That's pretty much what most people got, but have peices together themselves.

It's a good bolt in product range if you got the $

yeh the stock suspension is fine for the moment just lookin at upgrades. and it doesnt all have to happen straight away so im happy to wait to get the $ and do it prop the first time lol

Also what do people think about the rear suspension?
should I keep it leaf or go for a coilover setup on the back as well?

Keep it leaf. Coilovers won't do anything except make it easier to change the spring rate.

But upgrade the front now! Don't wait until you have an accident with those little drum brakes and big tires.

Hey Nathan, check out my build blog Shortening struts and welding on coilovers to see how easy it is to do a coil over modification on the ute. All you need are a few welding skills and you'll be right. I had to get a little bit of machining done (about $30!), the rest is pretty straight forward. You can do that same mod with any struts, just pick which brakes you want to end up with and work backwards.
I'll drop the motor off tomorrow, couldn't do it this morning sorry mate.

Hey Shoota..
Ok cool, I'll have a look. Weldin skills arent an issue lol
and thats cool no hurry, gonna fully rebuild it anyway. thinkin about goin forged internals and maybe boltin on a turbo haha...

ddgonzal: what about going coilovers with like a 4 link set up?
