Hello all! =)
I just acquired an engine block and the dude I bought it from said it was a L18 from a 510 station wagon. Looking at the number stamped on the side, I am not sure that it really is an L18. Does anyone know how to look up the #'s on the block to figure out if it really is an L18? Any help is GREATLY appreciated! =)
the stamp reads...K25 4220A

Is there a way to figure out just what year it came out of/is? And if it is an equivalent of the L18?

a picture tells a thousand words.

should be stamped on the lhs of the engine on a machined area between #3 and #4 cylinders.

To clarify, if it is an L18, it will be stamped "L18".

K25, etc is probably not stamped but cast -- is that what you see?

I only have the bare block and the only numbers I can find on it are the K25 4220A and yes...they are cast not stamped. Would there be more numbers somewhere else I am missing???

The cast numbers are casting numbers. They don't tell what size the engine is. The engine ID will be stamped.

As previously stated it "should be stamped on the lhs of the engine on a machined area between #3 and #4 cylinders". Or under 2&3 (center of engine block).

Have you looked there? Under the grease?
