A typical Datsun five speed gives about 20% better fuel economy at 60 mph (100 kph). An almost no difference at 40 mph.

the Nissan 71C sequential shifter is from www.japaneseautocentre.com.au but also avail from Jpn Im sure.
The T5 can be A seriesed using a 5mm adaptor from box to the auto bellhousing, machined input shaft and ford escort type clutch to A series flywheel and ford Hydro release bearing. T5 also has seq shifter but never seen the results of that compared to the 71 series box. T50 boxes are pricey for the close ratio gearsets while 71c and B boxes are 1400aud from Japan but 71 box needs adapting. However look up the vid of Sykines A12 turbo at PI and hear it upchange on the straight simply awesome. Can only imagine those Z cars devastated if he had an extra 400cc x 1.7 = 2.7 liters closer to big bore L28 & no noise limits. here is another Ikeya with 71 series box http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2mGfeP5pj4 You can view topic.
