I'm assuming the car the car is at around the 750-800kg which makes for a serious power to weight ratio. Given the 1200's 90 inch wheel base I'm not surprised it's lighting the tires over a hump. Neat video, nice to see a 1200 go like mad.

yeah it's aways a worry with restricted turbo engines. make bucket loads of torque low down to compensate for the chocked rev range.

The clutch is a 4.5" 3 plate indy car clutch. it should be ok.

The gearboxes are just not up to the hp, that is about all.

Jamie,
What clutch are you running, if it is a sprung centre clutch when you transition off throttle the springs unload and it puts shock through the gearbox. If so, get rid of this first, might save a few clusters down the track. IF not might be further upgrades to the gearbox.

Jeff,
What can I say, the build is going slow again. Had some issues getting the new front guards to fit, should be back into it this weekend.
I will be in attendance at the first round, just not with a car, Plus i need the cage rule changes to take effect before log booking the old girl.

BigV - Still running lots of your bits:

caster bar
rear spring hangers

tail light

Not sure what else, but plenty.

I noticed the flooding recently up your way, and was hoping that 'my' 1200 coupe spares storage area was ok, Im sure I am going to crash it again sometime soon!!!

thanks all your help as always..

-Jamie

The car has about 380hp on the engine dyno at about 4800 rpm(with the 36mm restrictor)

It has a hilux diff with an 8" crownwheel with a 3.08:1 ratio (this took me 12 months to find!!!)

the gearbox is an Albins 5 speed dog box, (which is just an SR20DET gearbox converted to dog gears) with 5th, changed to first. We kept breaking 5th gear off the end of the cluster (it is in single shear off the end of the cluster, and the HP would just break it off) so we had to get a better gearbox.

the car was white, but we painted it last time the night before a race, so it was falling off!!! so we just repainted it yellow with black stripes in a bit of s 70's colour scheme... attached is a new pictuire of it.

We got 225X50X15 wheels under the flared, but still original steel guards.. Took quite a bit of work, but it needs all the tyre it can get, that is for sure.

It spins the tyres quite a lot over the hump up mountain straight, another competitor said that it actually smokes the rear tyres when it does it!!! Cool!

The car wont be racing again for a little while, as I am racing someone elses car in the sports car series, so perhaps we will have a shot at the IPRA nationals in November in Tasmania...

Thanks for the comments guys..

regards,

jamie

Thanks for the vid thats made my week!
Still dont like the taxis pushing more exotic rare machinery around that poor celica at the start is in his line and the stupid commonwhore takes him out without a care.

The low down is monstrous should be a great car for the tighter tracks.
