Another thing,
I've found a great way to clean my hands after playing with filthy old gear oil, is to rub them together with baby oil for a few mins. The baby oil penetrates the top layers of skin, and bonds with the gear oil which has done the same. Then plain old liquid soap handwash can bond with the baby oil, and it all goes down the sink. Also does away with the need to scrub for 20 mins with a bar of soap, which removes all the natral oil from your skin. So your hands aren't left dry and sore. (Or stinky!)

After I finish getting the four stripped down, I'll let you guys know where I'm at. It's almost a pity to butcher this four speed. It feels really nice inside. But these aren't worth a pinch of sh1t here.

I decided I was too tired after work for a 6 hour drive.
So I had another crack at pulling the 4 speed to bits. Howerever, I forgot to bring a pin punch home. Thus I couldn't knock out the roll pins on the selector forks.
But I but I did remove the countershaft, and the reverse idler pinion shaft. This opened things up, enable-ing me to make a closer comparsion between my spare (But not in deal condition) gears, and the ones in the four speed.
And in my unexpert opinion, they look very same. The only discernable difference was that the 2nd gear from four speed has two gaps in the dogs(?) opposite each other. Whereas 2nd gear from the five speed doesn't have those spaces. And for the 3rd gears, its the exact opposite. The 5 spd third gear has a couple of gaps, whereas the 4 speed doesn't. It's beyond me why they'd even do that?
My only concern is that with two less teeth where the selector ring engages, it wont be quite as strong. (And second gear gets a VERY hard time in my car. lol

I worked late today, and had to go to parenting/antinatal classes tonight. So no gearboxing. And tommorrow after work I might be making a 6 hour round trip to pick up the numbers matching A15 for my sunny. but when I get the chance, I'm going to finish pulling down the low kms four speed to compare parts. The hard part with the short 63's here is finding them. I think all ours came out of 710sss violets. I've heard A10 stanzas had them too, but they're very uncommon here. (I've only ever seen two, and one was a rally car that comes over from OZ to race a few times a year)
I'll report back with my findings after I finish disemboweling the (hopefully) donor box.

It's a real pity nissan didn't fit the 63a to all their a series powered cars. (And H165 diffs too!)

How about $50 for a gearbox Mik, and I'll strip it and send the required parts to Bart.
