Hi matty its going to be a street driven car that handles well also,im putting the maddat kit in it,not really interested in going fast around corners more a straight line car.As for budget its unlimited,if it takes 3yrs to save for what i want done then so be it.

OK mate

I'm guessing by your initial comments you are after 300hp at the flywheel with potential for more if required.

An S15 style GT28R 320hp turbo will get you there but will need around 20-22psi and won't give you much head room. My CA makes 182rwkw on 20psi (approximately 290HP at the flywheel based on a driveline loss figure of 20%). To achieve this figure required a Nistune computer, GTR injectors, Bosch O40 fuel pump, exhaust camshaft on the intake side with adjustable cam gears. There are also the usual changes like a forged pistons, 3" exhaust, intercooler etc too. Both manifolds, head gasket and internals (excluding the pistons and rings) are stock Nissan gear just rebuilt carefully.

My choice would be a GT28RS 350hp (also known as a GT2860R or disco potato). The increase in lag over the S15 turbo will be minimal with plenty of grunt under the curve. To the modifications listed above I would then add a 6Boost exhaust manifold, lightly clean up the head, larger injectors and a larger fuel pump and run the car on E85 fuel. It will make your initial power requirements with head room to spare and run cooler than on 98 octane premium unleaded while being very responsive and fun to drive.

A GT2871R will obviously give you a higher peak power figure but may be getting too laggy for a street driven car. This may not be an issue for you but try and get a passenger ride in a couple of cars to get an idea before spending your hard earned on the wrong turbo.

The rest is all pretty standard fare - forged pistons with matching rings (plenty of available options), fresh bearings, new or rebuilt oil pump, new water pump, new hoses and gaskets and belts. The stock rods will live at these power levels provided they are checked and prepped but the Spool options offer great bang for your buck especially if you end up with a larger turbo, big cams etc that require you to rev it north of 8000rpm.

Good advice Matty! That's what will get you your figures for shore...dont be cutting corners on anything....all the things not on that list also

The 2871r turbo with a 6boost mano will only come on 100rpm later than a disco potato so that's easy to compromise for the added power and head room for boost. I am bias as that's what I have just brought (not fitted yet)

It's a big enough figure for a dato that's for shore

Good luck

I'm looking at a wiseco piston and pauter rod kitfrom USA and some ack race bearings for my forged ca build along with some tomie cams and cam gears, arp head studs, and a 6boost manifold and gt2871r I think this is the best value that I've been looking at! Plus then head work, oil pump work, winged sump and the a few other things!
This is what I'll be building over time for my race car
