Yeah that's awesome, I have an a15 on the way. If only j had the money for a set of brand New carbs! It's almost cheaper to go EFI!!!!!!
Will this car just end up being a weekender or what??

Umm to be honest i am still unsure what i will be doing.. With some issues with my daily currently and really no other funds to go out and burn on another daily. My first car i had was a Toyota surf in which i regret selling as i completed a Toyota Soarer engine swap (1UZ-FE) with a snake suspension upgrade and 3inch body lift in which i sold to a mate for $6000.00, still have no clue why i sold it. But now my old man gave me his old EB ford in which now has 300K + kilometres on it and has latly been blowing white smoke and burning oil and with alot of my cash gone into the Datsun its really the only viable Daily as the EB looks like it may die soon and need a rebuild or i may put some cash into it and possibly put a windsor in as my brother just removed his out of his XC Ute. Certainly going to be very reluctant to running my baby as a daily as i never know what may happen when its left parked for work or something out in the weather, guess ill have to wait and see over the next couple months i'd preferably rather it as a weekend cruiser, and that one off drive during the week as i am just too scared what some dickhead may do to it

So i pulled apart the head on the weekend and much to my surpise as Stock1200ute suggested it could be the water jackets on the head, in which he was 100% correct.
So i gave them a small tap put in some small bolts and fixed it up along with some automotive silicon put it all back together and its now running a treat :) I got the carpet from knox rock up today along with the interior so ill go ahead and get it all into the car and get some pic's up. Still awaiting my dash to come back but should have it by the weekend so close to finally being finished

I know how you feel about not wanting it to be a daily, if you can avoid it totally keep it good! I're heard of too many Datsuns being eyed off and/or stolen in the past couple years, its a real shame!
Maybe think about installing some elec door locks and also a cut off switch... Glad you sorted out the problem, i did the same thing with my single sidedraft on my h89 head haha whoops! I believe the stock manifold covers the holes. Look forward to seeing the interior finished, what head lights are you going to use? Stock or inserts?

Certainly not going to be to happy if it becomes a daily :(
May mean i have to spend some cash and get myself another daily if the ford dies.. Sounds like a great excuse to get my hands on a 1200 wagon :P Most happy about the fix cheers for the pointer. For headlights I have the H4 crystal headlights :) they don't look to bad (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/DATSUN-120 ... em564ad560fe#ht_500wt_923)

I totally agree keep it good! the last you want to happen after all of this work is to have it scratched in a parking lot...
I could see a 1200 wagon happening, have you got one locally? Maybe a fresh a12/14? Yeah nice headlights. I'm assuming you meant the carpet was from Knox Auto carpets in melbourne? If it was check the tunnel, i got some made for my ute and im pretty sure the tunnel was moulded from an auto trans therefore making it a larger looser fit.

I'd be stocked to get my hands onto a clean wagon - unfortuantely doesnt seem there are any going locally currently. Would be nice for just something simple rebuilt A12 or A14/15 just as a decent daily. Then no doubt it would end up as another project lol.
Yeah knox auto carpets melbourne.. yeah realised its a bit loose around the trans tunnel guess ill just run some extra under felt or sound proofing so it fits snug.

So got the ute sorted last night got it off the stands the carpet is in and started on the head liner and also got the wheels on and it off the stands so she can roll around nice on the floor.
Here is a quick vid of the ute last night out of tune with out the exhaust shooting some flames https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10150962347566148 and a quick snap of the ute.. ill upload some more later of more detail and the interior. Now i also got to start on the aluminium hard top for the ute :S and lay the marine carpet for the tray

I have not really put many updates in here lately regarding the ute..
These past few weeks i have got the ute running the way i want, tuned nicely and taken it for a quick lap around the block (clearly not legal no glass and just extractors) Had some great difficulties bleeding the rear brakes for some odd reason, but got them all bled up but it certainly isnt working the best.. pulled apart the master cylinder and it shows to be alright on the valve and all springs are ok and checked the transfer box along with all the lines.. but looks like ill just change it out to be safe and also change the lines, even though it was a brand new one from datsport so unsure... The newest and greatest news over the past 3 weeks is that i have taken the ute down to my good mate for auto trimming work at hume (canberra) bitch'n stitch'n to have the dash, roof, ute tub, door trims, centre console all trimmed The roof liner and a/b pilars are covered in an black vinyl with a red stitching along with the door trims and dash.. (original vinyl for period correct) The Tub is being completly done in marine carpet for the sides and tray for a nice clean look, the interior is being finished off today and the ute goes in to power tone exhaust on monday :) So once i get it back next week just a few minor things to do i.e put in the new coil overs in.. Then its a matter of getting it engineered You can view topic.
