cant think what i want for my upcoming birthday

wondering if i could get a remote control drift car for around $150 odd that would be worth having?

anyone got experience with them?

what sort of money do you have to spend to get something half decent?

I'm not gonna go join a club or anything, just want one for mucking around really

oh yeah... i suppose i will be using on the road, will that be ok or need some smooth concrete to use them?

i've had a couple i got board with them pretty quick, got sick if fixing them either crashing them or stripping the cogs in the crappy ass plastic gearboxs.

i would suggest get monster truck off road model there way more fun

if you do go for a drifter, go for electric. Nitro is good but more suited for racing buggys monster trucks etc.
If your budget is 150 there are some on ebay from memory called "flying fish" or something that are reasonable but stocking spare parts form your local hobby shop may be an issue.
My suggestions for a decent elctric drift car would be either a Tamiya TT-O1 (retailing around the 300-400 mark) With a lot of upgradable parts however its shaft driven so power is not as good. or going a step further with damn near every part being able to be replaced or upgraded, the Tamiya TA05 which are belt driven. Im pretty sure you can even change camber/ castor and control how much counter steer you're running.

Wurzel got a good 510 one, I just did burn outs but that was my first go. He had some good skills. I've seen some guys in the dry in the drains next to freeway with then too, fully mini fast and furious races.

jaycar ones are the same as flying fish i think they pretty good for the price fully adjustable sus, brushless motor, shit charger and shell but.and its shaft driven only thing is with shaft driven ones you cant get much counter steer going(opposite lock)i paid 250 for mine bit expensive compared to same car on ebay.ive spent a few hundred on better batts and charger, wheels and shell already.i put a hakosuka shell on mine its mad now.good fun but better with a mate for battles.

actually drifts really good once you take the time to set it up properly, everything is adjustable from straight from the box.exept castor but im going to install some adjustabe arms.50/50 and open diffs at the moment so its drifts good but just dosent look right cause you cant hold it on opposite lock for long, with some thicker oil in the rear diff to lock it will help a bit.so the good thing about belt driven ones is you can easily change the drive ratio and get more drive to the back wheels.and then you can hold it on opposite lock for longer so looks like a real drift car.main thing i like is its good for learning about suspension setups then applying the knowledge gained to setup your real car.
