Should have my ute there.
Got a couple of mates with 16's rally cars that should also be along for the ride...
My old mans #OOPS#ter coupe will hopefully be ready in time also. With an A14EFI SC. but that could all turn to #OOPS# yet haha

Booked my accommodation for the family all set to go. For those interested in Sydney I'm looking to organize a car carrier up to 6 cars to the Island and back. Brother in-law operates a car carrying business.

Also spoke to the NDSOC vice president yesterday, who informed that the track day will be enforcing a 75db noise limit for the event. This may impact on some cars, mine included, I may pay to check your car before turning up to the event.

cheers

Any clues on where on the track they measure 75 DB so I can work out what revs id be pulling to test from 30m distance? The EPA test of 1m was 96DB pass.for my car was over 104 previously lol

75db is abit weak for a race track. human ears can handle 80db for a hour before damage

I'm lead to believe that the local council have allocated only 7 or 8 weekends at PI with a unlimited noise limit. These weekends are are primarily allocated to the top tier events such as MotoGP, V8SC and state /national race meetings, all others are a case of tough luck. The DatNats track day will consist of 2 events, regularity and best lap time for class.

My coupe has a straight through exhaust with one hotdog and at a guess would easily be over 100db. I don't know the criteria at which testing will be conducted. Sampling at 200m would help in my case

I lifted the below from a WRX forum.

"Folks, the test is exact ... the noise meter microphone is located exactly 30 metres from the cente of the track, located on drivers left just past the start/finish gantry. Blindy Freddy would know that negotiating the straight on driver's left will exacerbate the reading because the driver has chosen to travel up to 5 metres closer to the noise meter - an alternative is surely to negotiate the straight on driver's right to position your vehicle a little farther away from the meter !!!.

It is also worth noting that there is a concrete pad located 30m from the centre of the track on the approach to Honda corner (T5) - about 100m from the corner which is where must people are on the brakes and rowing the car back thru the gears. It is not used a whole lot, but the pad is there ......

The rules are very clear and explicit. Your vehicle must not register greater than 75Bda when passing the noise meter. You are told where it is and if you are pinged, you are given one opportunity to correct the problem, failing which your vehcile will be excluded as the organisers face an initial $22,000 fine if the offending vehicle is permitted to continue and a formal EPA reading is taken which exceeds 75Dba. For a second offence the price rises "substantially".

It is the accountability of the entrant to ensure that their vehicle complies with the supp reg's, which reflect EPA noise requirements."

100db at 1m equals 70db at 30m
