"Hot A-series" means Datsun A-series. For example, 170kw out of an A12, only $1800.
And the expense of swapping it in ...

Hi What do you mean by a hot A series, are you refering to the Rotary 12A?

A hot A series is a great engine with heaps of power, and will bolt straight in.

Oh well thats a bit sucky :( I take it a 12a rotary would be ok though? not sure if a 12a would have enough power weighed up against the work & cash that has to go into the conversion.

The difference is the way the RTA treats each engine, whilst you could do a 2 litre conversion you couldn't do a turbo 2 litre but you could do a turbo 1.8 litre, they treat a 13B as a 2.6 litre so no go turbo or naturally aspirated.

Your thought that with your limited knowledge it would probably be easier to put a non turbo non fuel injected 13B into the car than a CA or SR is about right, but in NSW the 13B will be harder if not impossible to get registered.
Its always going to cost you a lot to do any legally registered high powered non A series conversion, but as previously stated you will learn an awful lot in the process, if you buy one already done and registered it will cost you less money than doing it yourself. You can view topic.
