There has been a fair bit of discussion on what are the 'official', original Tare Mass of 1200's

Is there a website or something that lists out the weights?

I am pretty sure that i can do the math after that

The rules themselves have not changed in recent years. The main changes have been to the testing requirements, liability, Insurance and suitability of the Engineers/Certifiers.

To be eligible for the licence you must mix the right amount of Qualifications with Experience.
For example I am a tradesman mechanic with a Certificate 3 in Automotive Mechanics, Cert 4 in Automotive technologies, certificate 4 in Business Management and I studied Engineering in this country and in Denmark at university. Anyway, it is not easy to get the licence.

1200 Project - As I said above the rules have not changed. The information and conversion tables are available in VSB14 under 'engine'.
Off the top of my head, the CA18DET and L20B would be fine for certification but I am unsure of the rotary and SR20DET. I am guessing no... The maximum engine size (including turbo or na) is based on the Tare Mass of the original vehicle.

With all the recent rumoured changes to the laws and what can be legally engineered in NSW I was wondering if you could clarify some things for me. Can the following conversions be registered if correctly built and engineered in NSW
1. CA18DET
2. SR20DET
3. L20B ( I know a weird request)
4. 13BT
I know there would be a lot of factors that would need to be considered but just wondering if it is possible at all. Thanks

Hyperslide, all previous engineering reports are still valid as long as they were done correctly.

Wards, when it comes to roll cages they can be a bit of a pain but it is definitely passable depending on the head room etc. Bit of a touchy one that I would have to inspect the car/plans and do some research into the wording of the rules etc.

Crumple zone is ok, boxed bent tunnel about 70mm to drivers side, front wheel bent wheel well 120mm toward passenger but we all walked away

I'm ok with controlled deformation , but we all know how little the drivers cabin space is in a ute ,I'm not comfortable with any or very little deformation of the drivers space , especially in the head space and foot well, remember the screens are not bonded in like a late model car so they don't offer any strength to the occupant cell . Also remember the doors don't have the level of side intrusion that later cars have either .

Those photos suggest the crumple zones work perfectly well in protecting the driver.
