As a cyclist, I live by the golden rule - being in the right legally doesnt help you much when you are lying on the ground witha shattered pelvis.

If you cant get where you are going on a proper bike path (and there are heaps of them around) then take the car.

Too right stinky. If only the militant cyclists realised the hell they cause for commuters and other cyclists then I reckon would be safer.

whats worse is old people on there mobility scooters ,i know they are trying to stay mobile but why ride it on the road ?? it goes walking speed tops and just cos it has 4 wheels doesnt mean they should ride them on the road and risk getting cleaned up

i think cyclist should use the foot path ,shouldnt be on the road cos they are a hazzard and if they get hit by a car its the drivers fault

whats the advantage of riding on the road ??? why risk it ?

i ride bmx and i use the foot paths cos i dont wanna die ,plus pedestrians dont realy care about bikes on the foot path ,most the time they just move aside and let you through
cheers

We get heaps past our house at sans souci and being a shift worker i like sleep, but packs of them ride past all talking at the top of their voice, it sounds like women at a sale!
Accountability on the road would be good they can get bad in regards to the rules.
And why licra its gay and offers no protection in an accident.

I love getting infront of a pack of em on my 2stroke scooter and just laying smoke it makes my day choke on motul oil lol

I commute to work on my push bike, have cycling insurance, and register and insure 3 vehicles. I think that means I pay my way to use the road. Something else to keep in mind is that a cycles required infrastructure and impact on the road pails into insignificance compared to cars, buses and trucks.

When I'm on my bike I'm not driving a car, motorbike or adding to the crowded public transport. SO, my lifestyle actually subsidises other road users.

I agree it's preferable that there's bike paths to ride on the whole way to work but there are gaps, we're technically not allowed on the foot path and at the speed I ride during heavy traffic I'm faster than the cars (takes longer to drive during peak hour). Still my preference is the bike path.

It would be better if more people rode bikes, it would ease congestion on the roads and on public transport until we get a government that spends money on infrastructure again.

(I don't wear lycra either.)

Lamb i applaud you for not wearing lycra :)
and i do agree that you are totally within your rights to use the road and insurance is very responsible.
My one thing is that a cycle on the road adds to traffic as all the cars have to merge out of their lane to get around said cycle usually giving it a bootful so they are forced to use more fuel??

I think most people accept commuters, its those weekend warriors that think they are cadel evans that bother me, and in a group think they are hella tuff. lol

"i rode 50 km on the weekend " yea? let me see you run 5 km.

Remember 1 meter matters
