Unless you're getting poor fuel atomisation at cruise conditions or the fuel mix is rich at cruise there shouldn't be much difference. I don't know much about the details of side drafts but if they have a lean cruise circuit and aren't so oversize that the fuel droplets are huge you should be able to tune for decent economy as well.

I guess the other point is if the nice sound and extra power make you drive harder you'll use more fuel for sure.
