I have the 56A 4 speed,it only has 1 mounting point.6 inches back.So it looks like I have to build a bracket to span that 6 inches.

Your gearbox is the early model. 56-series is the stock Datsun 1200 transmission.so it will mount straight up,if your 1200 is 74 up then you have to build a bracket.
