There are two A15s:
* Sunny A15 - massive increase
* Vannette A15 - mild increase

The vannette engine basically needs the A14 camshaft to wake it up.

I don't know. If the engine is completely original and stock you can tell by the distributor number.

It's worse in USA where there were A15 of 80HP and A15 of 65HP both in the same car ...

wow! went for a drive in the wet today... :)
reminder to self: dont change into 2nd, 3rd or even 4th over 3500rpm it equals instantaneous directional change of the sideways variety hahaha
nah it wasnt quite that bad but was fun, had to actually be careful driving it, it was a matter or changing into a higher gear as early as i could, caught me by surprise the first few times haha

I reckon you need to look at your tyres, no stock a15 I ever drove was like that. Even my camed a15 wasn't with good tyres. Went well but not wheel spinning at 3500rpm

My hot A15 had a fair bit of work done to it but was a pig in traffic great power up high but made you drive it like you stole it.
Gearbox chirped in all gears due to the lack of smoothness in power delivery.

The engine before it was was built by Steve Newing at some stage with Indian made high lead main full chanelled bearings (durability increase), lightly ported head with bigger exhaust valves, 36mm bike carbs with long runner manifold, jts headers, longer duration cam regrind (bit better than gx), 11.5:1 compression, 78mm Isuzu pistons and longer rods 136mm not sure now what they where but increased the rod stroke ratio as they where 136.5mm c-c matched to the shorter comp height pistons.

That engine had very impressive torque and was the best a15 engine I had compared to the more powerful but ridiculous to drive highly worked engine.

The formula for the street is to make sure you dont go overboard but keep everything balanced and just better than factory. Going for the ultimate hp in NA is like brain surgery, its an art and perhaps only a handful know how to do it properly for the A series.
